Justice Center Release Paths

The Mitchell County Justice Center is the county jail operated by the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office. Release from this facility can mean bond, court order, dismissal, time served, expiration of a county sentence after lawful earned time, or transfer. A community release and an agency transfer are not the same event. The jail entry should identify the release type and destination when recorded.

If GDC receives the person, continue with the state offender search. A transfer to another county requires that county's custodian. Federal, U.S. Marshals, or immigration holds lead to the appropriate federal system. Confirm Justice Center Releases

No official Mitchell County current-inmate roster or recent-release feed was found. Call the jail at (229) 336-2030 for a same-day status question. If oral confirmation is not enough, request the booking and release entry. Georgia VINE may supply custody alerts for participating records, but the sheriff site does not guarantee every local booking appears there.

1. Gather the full name, birth date, booking date, and case number.
2. Ask whether the person remains in Justice Center custody and whether a release entry has processed.
3. Request the release date, time, reason, and any transfer or detainer destination.
4. Check the Mitchell County court file for the bond, dismissal, sentence, or release order.
5. Follow a transfer in GDC, another county, or the named federal system.

A person can vanish from a live custody view before every connected record updates. A court order may be entered after hours, while a transfer may look like release from the county even though custody continues elsewhere. Verify the destination before arranging pickup or assuming the sentence ended.

The sheriff jail page names Captain Robert Rumble as jail administrator and W.E. Bozeman as sheriff. Include identifiers and a date range in a records request. A useful request seeks booking date, charge or case reference, bond or court-order notation, release date and time, release type, and transfer destination. Justice Center Court Records

A court file often explains why a Justice Center booking ended. The Mitchell County Superior Court Clerk provides public access to court records for Superior, State, and Juvenile courts. A docket can show bond, dismissal, a plea, time served, probation, a prison sentence, or a transfer order. Those legal events add meaning to the jail's operational release entry.

The clerk listing identifies Tess Gay, 11 W. Broad Street, Room 108, Camilla, with phone (229) 336-2022 and weekday hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Online Georgia court services may require accounts and can be incomplete. For a Mitchell County case, the clerk remains the official local access point.

Justice Center Pickup Logistics

The official jail information page places the Justice Center less than one mile east of Camilla on Georgia Highway 37. It publishes no release-processing hours, transportation service, family waiting rule, or pickup procedure. Call before traveling and ask where a ride may wait, what identification is needed, and whether processing has finished.

Do not infer a departure time from a court hearing alone. Staff may still need to verify an order, clear a bond, check other holds, return property, and record the event. If another agency has a detainer, the person may leave through a secure transfer rather than the public pickup point.

Inside Mitchell Justice Center

This is a county jail, not a state prison. It holds people during local criminal proceedings and may hold people serving county time or awaiting transfer. GDC's statewide search becomes relevant only after state custody begins. The parole board does not control an ordinary local bond release.

The sheriff reports that on-site visitation is currently unavailable. Remote video visitation runs seven days per week from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A nurse is onsite weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on call at all times. A $5 medical request fee may be charged to an inmate account. ICSolutions provides inmate phone service, with account and deposit methods that include a lobby kiosk. These operational details help families distinguish jail services from the release confirmation process.

Justice Center Record Timing

Mitchell County publishes no official update cadence or web retention period because it has no public release feed. Jail staff update operational records as events are processed. VINE depends on agency data and may lag. Court files follow clerk processing. For a weekend, holiday, late-night bond, or after-hours order, those clocks may not match.

The durable sources are the sheriff's jail record and the court file, subject to retention rules, exemptions, redactions, and restriction orders. Georgia open-records law permits reasonable costs. An agency seeking more than $25 must give an estimate, and it may require prepayment when estimated production exceeds $500. Pending cases can limit some material, so request the nonexempt release fields specifically.

Justice Center Release Fields

A complete request should seek fields staff maintain, not a new explanation. Useful fields include name, booking identifier, booking date, arrest authority, charge or case number, bond or court-order status, release date and time, release reason, and transfer destination. Request a booking photo separately if legally releasable.

Read these as one event. Bond does not decide the case. Time served may not end supervision. Transfer shows county custody ended while another authority may have begun custody. A detainer is a hold from another agency, not a new conviction by itself.

If records conflict, compare identifiers and processing dates. Ask the sheriff to clarify its jail entry and the clerk to clarify the docket. Keep copies so a later update can be traced.

Justice Center Earned Time

For a county sentence, O.C.G.A. § 42-4-7 permits earned-time allowances based on institutional behavior, within legal limits. O.C.G.A. § 42-4-4 bars early release except for lawful credits or court order. The judgment and custodian calculation must be read together.

Earned time does not explain bond, dismissal, or state parole. For GDC custody, switch to GDC and parole records. For county time, request the local calculation and release entry.
